Learn How To Speak French - Correct Methods

There are many different ways you can learn how to speak French. Learning a second language can be a great help particularly if you plan on traveling to a French speaking country. French is one of the romance languages and its grammar is based on Latin so if you already know some Spanish or Italian you will find similarities.

You no longer need to attend regular classes to learn French, as there are many different avenues of study available to you. It can be difficult to attend regular classes as many busy individuals cannot make the time commitment. Some people who attend these classes may need to work at a slower pace. You also may find that there aren’t any French classes offered in your area. For those that may be vacationing in France, you will probably want to focus on conversational French. If you plan on living in France or doing business with French companies, then you also would need to learn how to read and write French. This will include learning a lot more grammar than you would for conversational French.

No matter what you want to learn you will need to know some basic grammar, as there are different verb tense and masculine and feminine endings and words. Unlike when speaking English there is also a specific way of speaking to your friends versus speaking to strangers and important individuals. The basics that you will cover in a French course include sentence structure, plurals, adjectives, verb tense, verbs, pronoun, gender, articles and pronunciation.

Possibly the best way to really learn French is to participate in a language exchange program in which you go to France and spend some time immersed in the culture and country. When participating in a language exchange program you will learn real French that includes French expressions and slang, not taught in traditional French courses. You can become accustomed to how native speakers speak French and be exposed to different dialects and make some great friends.

You can find many free French courses online. French is very popular as it is spoken in many countries, particularly throughout Europe. There are many benefits to being able to speak a second language and you should take advantage of the resources available online.

The website France-pub.com offers many quizzes and exercises in which you can practice your French. The University of Texas and bonjour.com have lessons that help to increase your fluency and bonjour.com also has translation services.

Frenchassistant.com offers help with essential phrases and grammar. The site also contains vocabulary tests and translation services. Learner.com has a resource for beginners and more advanced French students.

There are many other universities that offer French programs and resources and a few that you should investigate include Strayer University, The Art Institutes, University of Arizona, Westwood College, Keiser university, Capella University, the University of California, DeVry University and South University.

Majoring In French

Undertaking a French degree at college may appear a daunting task, but you will be surprised by how much French you actually do know so don’t be afraid by the challenge of it.

French courses at college are nothing like high school ones. In addition to learning the language, you will take classes in French culture, film and politics. Within 4 years you will be speaking French fluently and you will have incredible opportunities to study abroad.

You will begin with basic French courses starting, with your level of study being determined by a freshman placement test. It’s important to work hard and focus at the start as rapidly improving your French then will result in you being able to relax a little later on in the course.

On completion of the initial French language course, you will advance to reading literature. Then you will take a range of courses including linguistics, phonetics and translation.

Your classes will likely be small so you will get to know all of your professors and fellow students. Many French departments are like families with all within it happy to assist each other and pool resources and ideas. Also, it is easy to get personal recommendations from your professors after you graduate as they will know you so well.

However, such small classes can at times be a disadvantage too. You will not have as many courses to choose from each semester as most of your friends will and, though it is uncommon, too few students enrolling can mean courses getting cancelled.

Having finished your course after four years you will have no problem finding work. A fair number of graduates become translators whilst others work in literary analysis and linguistics. However, the vast majority of of those graduating start teach French themselves or go on to graduate studies in French.

Sharpe Author’s Latest Release Due To Be Adapted For Film

‘Agincourt’ the most recent book by Bernard Cornwell author of the Sharpe series is due to be adapted into a film. Bernard’s latest book unsurprisingly relates to the events around the 1415 English /French battle through the eyes of Thomas Hook an English longbowman.

Based in London the Independent Film Co. has commissioned Michael Hirst to adapt the book for film, Michael has a track record in historical fiction creating the Tudors TV series, and writing the screenplays for the films Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

‘Agincourt’ has done remarkably selling over 200,000 copies in the first 3 months in the UK and spending over 4 weeks on the New York times best sellers list. The novel not he first of Bernard Cornwells to be adapted, his Richard Sharpe character having had over 15 TV films made, 12 of them based (sometimes much to loosely.) on the Sharpe books set in the Napoleonic era .

Agincourt has had virtually no film exposure outside films of Henry V, but it is a battle where the small English army of archers defeated a much larger French army of knights. Up to10,000 French died with a supposed loss of only 112 English casualties. It has also been claimed as being the battle which brought about the death of chivalry in Europe, and is believed to have been the origination of the English two fingered salute.

The film has a budget of a very modest $35 million, and is rumoured to start shooting in 2011, cast and location at this point are not known.

A French release for the film is currently deemed unlikely. We are also awaiting a release date of St Crispin’s day which was the date of the battle in 1415, but that may prove be hard for the production company.

Lose Weight The Right Way

You may be wondering what the best way to lose weight is. There are so many fad diets, exercise programs, and diet pills out there that you may be totally confused as to which direction to take. To simplify matters, losing weight comes down to one basic formula: you need to burn more calories than you consume.

What the formula is basically saying is that you need to eat low calorie foods and also exercise to burn off more calories than you consume. Most diets don’t even discuss what type of exercises to do, and a lot of fitness programs don’t really provide much guidance on healthy, low calorie meals. You need to incorporate both of these into your weight loss program.

As far as your diet is concerned, your meals need to not only be low in fat but healthy as well. Cut fast foods and highly processed foods from your meals and snacks. Be sure that your meals contain a generous variety of different natural foods, including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and fiber. Eat somewhere between four to six small meals rather than the usual three meals a day to keep your metabolism running high and burning more calories.

An effective exercise plan will combine cardio with strength straining to burn calories at an effective rate which will help you lose weight. Find some cardio exercises and activities that you would like to do such as aerobics, brisk walking, swimming or hiking. Commit yourself to doing some cardio at least three times every week at thirty minutes per session.

Lifting weighs and other forms of strength conditioning also contribute to weight loss. These fitness routines effectively work your body’s large muscles like your arms, legs, back and chest. When you lift heavy weights it takes a lot of energy which burns more calories and tones your body.

Combining low fat, healthy meals with regular exercise helps to raise your metabolism which will burn calories more effectively. Another benefit is that your body will not be storing up extra fat because you will have eliminated most of the high calorie, fatty foods from your diet and you are more active. Exercising on a regular basis and eating healthy are complimentary and boost the calorie burning process.

You really don’t have to keep searching for the latest diet or miraculous exercise machine. Stick to the basics and you will lose weight. The hardest thing people have trouble with is finding a weight loss plan and sticking to it.

Lose weight the right way by figuring out what healthy low calorie foods you enjoy as well as finding exercise routines and activities that are fun as well. You should aim for making lifestyle changes and not just look for quick fix solutions. This will not only help you to lose weight, but keep it off for good.

French can be a difficult subject to learn for kids as it is a very complex yet beautiful language. This is a shame as being able to speak French will give your kids a huge career advantage over their peers. France is after all the number holiday destination for Americans and the 3rd for Europeans.

Have you ever considered an online French for kids course? Below are 5 reasons why online French for kids courses are far superior to traditional school teaching methods:

1. Games - The best online French for kids courses have fun interactive games your kids can play. They will become addicted to learning! Very sneaky, but it works!

2. Audio Modules - The audio modules that most online French for kids courses have can be uploaded to your children’s mp3 players. Your kids can listen to the material when they are on the way to school or playing on the Playstaion. This passive learning is very easy for kids.

They can open chat windows and if you have a head set, can speak with their new friends, in French of course! What better way to get good at French than by using it in a practical way! They don’t get this at school!

5. Cost - You could get your child a personal tutor to teach them French. Your child would benefit enormously from this one to one tuition and it would typically cost you around $40 per hour.

However, a good online French for kids course will set you back around $100 and you will get a 2 month guarantee. If your child doesn’t learn French quickly, you get your money back.
