7 Organic Skin Care Tips for Fall and Winter

Fall and winter exact the harshest seasonal treatment on our skin. During these seasons, the skin needs extra care to keep it moisturized. Keep your skin radiant and healthy through the holiday season and right on into the New Year by following these fall and winter organic skin care tips.

1. Drink Water Frequently

Help your skin stay hydrated by consuming plenty of water. When you leave the house, take a bottle of water, tea or juice with you. Hot herbal tea can do wonders in the cold. If you constantly hydrate yourself, your skin will maintain a healthy glow even on the coldest days of winter.

2. Remove Dead Skin Cells with Regular Exfoliation

Remove dead skin cells with a body or facial scrub to keep your skin feeling fresh. Expensive products aren’t necessary. There are various exfoliation recipes you can use at home using items you find in your kitchen.

3. Use Organic Moisturizers

After exfoliating, be sure to moisturize your skin. There are various all natural, organic skin moisturizers available. Free of harsh chemical preservatives, these organic products help protect rather than harm your skin.

4. Remember to Wear Sunscreen

Summer isn’t the only time you need to apply sunscreen when outdoors. You need a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15. Organic sunscreens are available. Additionally, some sunscreens contain moisturizing agents, so they do double duty in protecting your skin. A good sunscreen will protect your skin from the harsh environment.

5. Wear Gloves

Your mother knew what she was talking about when she insisted you wear gloves in the winter. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Select gloves that are made of organic material like hemp. In addition to protecting your skin from harsh elements, gloves also keep your hands warm and dry.

6. Use an Organic Oil Bath

In addition to relaxing you, an organic oil bath can also hydrate your skin. Use a lavender bath oil to relax your body, calm your senses, and nourish your skin simultaneously. A few drops of the oil in your bath water will do wonders for you after a tiring day at the office (or, in case of the Christmas Season, the mall).

7. Use Organic Lip Balm to Protect Your Lips

Your lips are more likely to chap in the fall and winter. This is because both the use of indoor heaters and the cold elements themselves can cause lips to chap. The best way to avoid chapping is to use an organic lip balm. Make sure the balm is there when you need it by stowing one away in your pocket or purse. Sometimes you can’t predict when you will need it. If you’ve suffered from chapped lips, then you know lip balm is something you should never be without.
