Sunbathe in Spain or Safari in South Africa, It’s Your Choice

There are plenty of holidays I have tried – soaking up the sun in Spain, braving the roller coasters in America and  walking in Wales to name but a few.

However, I still have a few different experiences I would love to try.   One of them is gambling in Las Vegas. One of my friends has just returned from there and so far I can’t get her to stop talking about it as she enjoyed it so much. It’s absolutely true that you can spend 24 hours a day gambling. She said that although she had lost a lot of money, she had sensibly set herself a daily limit, so didn’t really mind as the whole experience of Las Vegas was fantastic.

Another experience I would love to try is going on a safari.

Safaris are meant to be absolutely fabulous.   On a recent visit to Florida, I visited their Animal Kingdom Park and got a little taster of what a safari might be like. Of course as Disney is so well run, there is never going to be a chance of any of the animals actually getting close to you. It must be such an experience to be on a real safari and be within a whiskers touch of a lion. I can imagine the feeling must be absolutely invigorating.

Holidays to South Africa are certainly gaining in popularity and are a great holiday choice.

In all honesty though, keen as I am to book a safari holiday, one thing that really puts me off is all those spiders. I really hate the things. They scare me rigid. It’s stupid when you compare their size to mine. It’s the fact that they seem to be able to move so fast on those big fat hairy legs.   Unfortunately my fear has rubbed off on both my children and many a time my husband has had to get up in the middle of the night to get rid of spiders from bedrooms.

Be very careful though and whatever you do DO NOT hoover up a spider into a paper hoover bag.   My mother in law did this once and couldn’t figure out why a little while later the hoover bag was moving around so much. The spider had decided that the warm hoover bag was a good place to have her babies and instead of one spider, there were hundreds of them. It was absolutely hilarious and an experience she is keen never to repeat.

Now if somebody could guarantee me a safari without spiders, I would be there like a shot.   If not, then I am somehow going to have to overcome my fear. How strange that a huge creature like a lion doesn’t phase me at all, just a tidily little spider!!

Lower The Minutes Spent Working Out With Road Bikes

If you talk to almost anyone who goes to the gym to work out and ask them how long a good workout usually takes, they will often answer an hour to two hours, otherwise they feel that they have not pushed themselves enough.

However, when I tell these hard-core gym goers that I get the same results as them whilst spending only 30 minutes in the gym, they are astonished! Most of them think it is impossible.

The plain fact is there are a lot of people who have such busy schedules that finding more than 30 minutes to dedicate to a workout is just impossible. One cannot describe this as being lazy but some people really do not have the time in the day to spend an hour or two in the gym.

But how can 30 minutes of exercise really give you the same results you would see if you worked for an hour or more?

Start with a plan written for everyday that you will be doing exercise on. make sure you jot down the weight you will be using for all the exercises you do. You can also write down repetitions and sets so you can follow every step. If you use road bikes to get to work then count this as exercise and you will quickly get your 30 minutes done.

You should split your body into spate exercise routines. So if you do your arms and back on Monday and Wednesday, on Tuesday and Thursday you can do your legs and stomach. This way you only have half of your body parts to work on each day cutting down significantly on time spent in the gym.

Try not to make the gym too social of a place. Try to be friendly, smile at people and say hello, but do not get distracted in full conversations. Remember, you only have so much time and 5 minutes spent talking rather than exercising is 5 minutes wasted. You can explain to people that you do not have time to talk or use headphones then people will know that you are not up for talking.

Always do your weight training and cardio training separately. On days you are not doing weight training, you can spend 30 minutes on the treadmill or on road bikes. This way you can maximise effort whilst keeping the time down to 30 minutes. Combining the two only means you will have to spend more time in the gym and time spent in the gym is what you are trying to cut down on.

How To Recycle Your Toner Cartridge

When you recycle your toner cartridge you will do the environment a favor while being financially rewarded. These days throwing your toner cartridge in the trash is a waste; it’s like throwing your money away!

An alternative to disposing of your toner cartridges is to recharge them with new toner. Manufacturers can replace the drums and other important parts with new ones. Additionally, some retail shops accept trade-ins for spent toner cartridges when you purchase a new one from them. These cartridges are then refilled with toner and subsequently sold at reduced rates compared to their brand-new counterparts. Self-refill kits are also available.

Depending on the type of toner cartridge you use, there are multiple types of refill kits available. These kits make recycling toner cartridges simple and cheap. Most refill kits come with instructions, and the toner is inside a plastic bottle. There are no special tools required other than soldering iron to refill the cartridge. Here are four basic steps on how to recycle your toner cartridge.

1. Take the toner cartridge off the printer.

2. Burn a small fill hole into the cartridge casing with the soldering iron. Do not use a drill, as this might cause small bits of plastic to fall into the toner chamber.

3. Pour the toner in through the fill hole. Manufacturers recommend you do not fill the chamber completely full — especially if you are refilling a cartridge that has been used more than once.

4. Once you’ve filled the cartridge to an acceptable level, use tape to seal the hole you created with the soldering iron.

When handled improperly toner can ruin furniture, clothes, carpeting, etc., so be particularly careful when handling the substance. Further, many toners are hazardous; therefore, take necessary precautions by wearing gloves and keep it out of children’s reach.

Due to their non-biodegradable nature, most toner cartridges will end up in landfills; but if you recycle your toner cartridges or buy re-manufactured ones you eliminate waste and save landfill space — which saves on disposal costs.

If you don’t want to risk making a mess, you can buy re-manufactured toner cartridges. These are available from your local office suppliers and specialty stores. Some retailers will pick up used toner cartridges when they deliver your purchased re-manufactured cartridge. Also, over the last few years toner cartridge re-manufacturers have improved their technology to the extent that the quality can meet the manufacturer’s OEM standards. Additionally, most re-manufactured cartridges provide good quality prints coupled with a low occurrence of malfunction and leakage.

Mountain Bike Buyer’s Guide

Any beginner when offered the offer of a new bike, he/she is bound to get wild by the choices offered by every other advertiser. The variants have been designed in such a way that each one of them excels in some or the other riding aspect. Price tagged with these bikes usually ranges between $500-$10,000.

While picking out a bike for yourself you will have to consider many factors such as the type of terrain you will be riding your bike on and the region in which you will be residing. These criteria are capable of excluding a wide range of options from the list. Geographic location matters a lot at the time of purchase for example; if you want to ride your bike around gently sloping hills, you should avoid the purchase of a downhill bike.

The more the number of location options in your hand for riding the more will be the number of styles to choose from.

The most prominent variants that can be seen in every other bike store are cross-country, all mountain, freeride, or downhill. You can choose any variant depending on your personal needs. Though a major distinction can be found in the designs of all these bikes, the basic concepts used at the time of designing is the same.

Buyers shopping for new bikes can be often found buying the all-in-one ‘All mountain bike’ most of time. Bikers can take their bikes to just about anyplace and can ride them on any sort of terrain. If you are looking for the purchase of an all rounder bike, an all mountain bike is just the right option for you.

Cross country bikes and mountain bikes may look similar when viewed from the external aspects but have a lot of differences in between them. They are lightweight and therefore offer more speed to your biking adventure. Cross-country bikes have slimmer tyres that offer the much-desired speed on mountainous terrains.

Freeride bikes are fabricated for people who are on a lookout for new stunt every other day. It maybe tough for rider to go up the hill with this heavy bike but at ground level, it fetches you the desired admiration by being supportive as you perform your innovative series of stunts.

It is the weight of Downhill bikes that assures you of a stress free journey down the hill. Again the usage of this bike is limited to the hilly region with the frequency of riding more in a downhill manner. It maybe tough for any rider to climb the hill with this bike.

Buyers are always advised to go through the in-depth details of every bike variant before buying one. You should have an exact idea in your mind about the usage of the bike as each one of them is designed to fulfill a specific need of a ride.

Winter Wonderland brings Travel Chaos to the UK

ITN News / ITN news on Friday 18th December

Recent winter weather and snowfall has thrown the United Kingdom into chaos.

In some of the worst hit parts of the country roads are littered with abandoned cars. Many were attempting to retrieve their vehicles as temperatures began to increase a little today. A number of people are reported to have been trapped in their cars overnight in sub zero temperatures.

There has been a lot of disruption to public transport with bus and train services cancelled and many flights also cancelled. Eurostar high speed trains to and from Europe have suffered break downs due to the ingress of snow into the trains power compartment. Around 2000 passengers were stranded for up to 16 hours in the tunnel beneath the English Channel. Some suffered panic attacks and many complained about the lack of information, food and water.

After three consecutive days with no service Eurostar have now begun to resume normal operation of their high speed train service. They now have huge passenger backlogs to deal with in both France and the UK.

The National Health service has told people to stay at home unless their journey is essential. Hospitals have reported unprecedented numbers of people injured as a result of falling on icy pavements.

With Christmas only days away many people need to visit their local towns in order to complete their pre-christmas shopping. This is forcing many people to go out onto dangerous, icy footpaths.

Discussions have already begun regarding how well the UK has coped with this latest round of bad weather. While main roads were quickly treated with grit and salt many smaller side roads remained untreated and most pavements and footpath were completely untreated.

Earlier in 2009 the UK experienced some intense winter weather that plunged the country into arctic conditions, wreaking havoc upon transportation, schools and industry. This latest bad weather is prompting many to ask if the UK is capable of dealing with intense winter weather.

Rosemont Copper Mine Tour in Tucson - Tucson, Arizona

Rosemont Copper gives tours to all who want to see the development of the copper mine coming to the land area just near outside of Tucson.  You will see cattle grazing, comprehensive plans of how the mine is going to be made with minimal impact on the areas surrounding beauty.

It is planned for Rosemont Copper Company to develop one of the most innovative and comprehensive metal-producing field-operations in the world at this site.  They will set progressive environmental standards for the resource protection, water conservation and land reestablishment which will set the standard for the rest of the countries to follow when they are mining the essential resources to allow the world to function.

What an opportunity for everyone to learn and see what this company is offering the world right here in Tucson Arizona! Simply book a tour, visit with the people working in the mine environment and you will learn that there is a sincere desire to reclaim the land in a wondrful manner rather than unattractive ugly piles of residue waste.

To protect the new growth revegetation and reclamation work effort, Rosemont Copper Company has created a 30,000 acre working cattle ranch about thirty miles south of Tucson, Arizona. The ranch operation is professionally operated by Tom Kay and he will oversee a herd of five hundred to five hundred and fifty beef cattle. The Rosemont ranch will have no dairy cows. Tom has decades of ranching experience and enjoys being a cowboy, working to keep the cattle, equipment and environment all functioning in tip top order.  He knows that society needs copper to function today but he also believes that beauty in the area needs to be portected.  The plans of the company accomplish this with their vision, approach, plans and promises.

Rosemont will be utilizing the latest in natural, non-confined ranching managment ways. Rosemont livestock will be raised in nature environmentally friendly manner with no hormones, no antibiotics and they will be completely range fed.

The revegetation has been planned with the work of the University Of Arizona College Of Natural Resources.  They were studied to find the best plant species for the revegetation following the mining completion.  The 29 seeds selected have a resilient and productive system and are currently available from large-scale commercial seed vendors and meet the NRCS’s ecological site description.

The ranching operations are necessary to assist in the process of growing and reproducing the seeds.  Since seeds do better if worked into the soil so they don’t dehydrate in our desert heat or blow away in our wind so the cattle hooves can mix the seed into the soil.  The munching of the cattle creates textured soil which helps keep water and nutrients.

Not only that but the eating helps to stimulate the development not only with them grazing but also by walking on weeds and eating weed flowers.  Of course the manure provides benefits of fertilizing the land which helps even in the poor growth areas where a focused placement of manure increases microorganisms and ads to the soil fertility.

Rosemont Copper Mine has been actively assisting a number of local organizations with their fundraising programs.  They have benefited in a number of activities such as supplying not only financial assistance but also providing the cow for the Cienega Rotary “Cow Pie Bingo” event where funds assist in both local and international projects.

Rosemont Copper Company hosts free weekly tours of the location that include visits to the geology exploration camp, the historic mining areas, the old quarry, and the weather station. Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 to noon.  This tour will be not only a great opportunity to see the Arizona Mountains and desert but also to learn about the value of copper to our development.  Without copper we probably would not have electricity or would not have a space program.  It’s important to mine this mineral in the most environmentally friendly way possible and Rosemont Copper Mine is working toward accomplishing this and setting the standard for the rest of the world!

You can arrange for your Rosemont Copper Mine tour by calling Phone: (520) 343-1730 or by going to the ad on www.arizonabeautiful.com and going to the Tucson attractions region.

The mine is located approximately 30 miles southeast of Tucson, Arizona.

Why Buy A Full Suspension Mountain Bike?

Year after year mountain bike manufacturers come up with better, lighter and cheaper products to make them more attractive to consumers. You may be considering a full suspension mountain bike for your next purchase. In this case you will find the following sections of this article very helpful.

It is usually best to strat your search for a new mountain bike by considering the sort of riding you will be doing - what type of terrain will you cover? For typical cross country (XC) riding a full suspension mountain bike may not be necessary and the extra weight could slow you down. A hardtail bike (no rear suspension) could be a good alternative. However for downhill riding or over very rough terrain a full suspension bike would be the preferred choice.

Decide on the amount you want to spend a keep to this figure. Ideally, you should aim to buy the best bike that fits within your budget. It is often suggested that if you have less than 500 euros to spend on a bike you might want to look at a hardtail bike as full suspension models are more costly. Another option would be to look at buying a second hand full suspension bike at a reduced price.

If you determine that a full suspension mountain bike is what you need and want then consider the different frame designs. Single-pivot, sweet-spot and horst-link are a few popular designs and each has their advantages and disadvantages. The best way to truly understand the difference is to go to a few bike stores and test ride the different designs. The bike store guy will be more then happy to explain and point out the pros and cons of each design.

Full suspension bikes are more complex and can be significantly heavier than hardtail bikes. Full suspension frames are also a little heavier and will require more effort to pedal along the trail.

Take a look at some online mountain bike forums, where you can learn a lot from what other riders are saying about their own bikes. You can find out many useful things from the experiences of other people.

Remember to take account of maintenance costs. Full suspension bikes will require more maintenance due to the more complex linkages involved. If you are a do it yourself type you will need a few extra tools as well.

Finally, take a test ride as many different mountain bikes as you can before making a final decision. Also bear in mind that you can also test ride a full suspension mountain bike with the front and or rear shock locked out, to simulate the effect of a hard tail.

For a lot more information about selecting the best mountain bike, check out Roue VTT, a really great website full of great articles on all aspects of mountain bikes and related equipment. Also take a look at Roue VTT which has a further selection of useful facts and figures.
